Man faces charges in 2 road rage highway shootings

NORTH SCITUATE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection to two separate shootings spurred by road rage on local highways.

Twenty-four-year-old Anthony Jackson of Providence was arrested on Tuesday by troopers and charged with several counts, including felony assault, drive-by shootings and discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle.

The first shooting happening on July 25, 2017 when a driver fired several shots at another car on Route 146. The second happened on October 29, 2017, when the operator of a similar red sport utility vehicle fired at another car in Providence. In both cases, no one was injured. An investigation found the bullets were fired from the same weapon.

Jackson will appear in Sixth Division District Court on Wednesday.

An attorney for Jackson could not be immediately identified.
